About us
Escape with a Bank Boat Hire
Established in 1982, Bank Boats is a family run business letting Day Boats, Canoes, and Kayaks from our base by Wayford Bridge. We have a range of canoes, kayaks (single and double)and all weather dayboats; whether you’re a novice or experienced, we ensure you’re given enough instruction to be confident in using your chosen craft. We’re also situated at the top of the beautiful River Ant which makes a spectacular starting point to discover the natural beauty and wildlife of the Norfolk Broads.
Whichever route you choose, there are endless opportunities for enjoying the tranquillity, and seeing the wide diversity of wildlife the Broads has to offer – spot an otter, kingfisher, heron or many of the other species frequenting the riverbanks.
Explorer Tips!
A half day boat rental could see you visit Hunsett Mill, Stalham Staithe, Sutton Staithe, Neatishead or How Hill and Ludham. In a full day rental you can reach Ranworth, Horning or round to the iconic St Benet’s Abbey.
In a canoe, you can paddle upstream to Dilham Staithe, or downstream to Stalham , Sutton or even Barton for the adventurous.

Our self-drive Day Boats are fully weatherproof and will seat up to 8 people. They were even featured in Channel 4’s ‘Secret Escapes’. Shorter periods are available, price application on the day.

2-3 Seater Canoes
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been in a canoe when it comes to our canoes. We use Canadian canoes which are flat bottomed and very stable – perfect for beginners!

With over 40 years excellent service within the industry, Angie, Tony, and the Bank Boats staff will ensure your experience on the Norfolk Broads will be a day to remember for the whole family. Whether you paddle or motor, safety is paramount to us and the hire price includes buoyancy aids, maps, and full instructions. Our fully trained staff will spend as much time as you need instructing you before you set off.
